Tom Cruise is a staunch advocate for the cinematic experience. Recently, the actor, who is set to star alongside Anne Hathaway in Thunder Days 2, expressed optimism about the Warner-Paramount merger for “creating abundance,” which underscores his desire to continue producing big-screen films. However, his passion for cinema doesn’t stop him from supporting its competition!<\/p>\n

Tom Cruise Approves the Economic Benefits of Streaming (and More)<\/h2>\n

In an interview with GQ<\/span> last Tuesday, Cruise discussed his views on modern film consumption. While he remains deeply committed to theaters, he acknowledges that Netflix and other platforms (including an upcoming new one) play a crucial role in the industry, particularly from an economic standpoint: “I have nothing against cable, TV, or Netflix. I think it\u2019s great,” he added, “It creates jobs and everything.”<\/p>\n

For Cruise, the difference lies in the experience offered to viewers. What he truly values about cinema, which television doesn’t provide, is its ability to bring strangers from diverse backgrounds together to share a film: “It allows us to come together in one room to share an experience,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Actor Dispels a Common Misconception About Young Viewers<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

In the same interview, Tom Cruise responded to a question about how new generations discover his films. The journalist suggested that younger audiences might know him more for his recent action films, like the iconic Mission: Impossible series, rather than the classic films that launched his career, such as Rain Man, Interview with the Vampire, or Eyes Wide Shut.<\/p>\n

Cruise doesn’t quite agree with this view. He recently offered some advice to the new generation, pointing out that platforms have allowed a broad audience to access films released years ago, which might not have been the case without streaming. He’s often surprised by the diversity of the audience at a movie premiere: “There are three or four generations of people present.” Thus, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and Paramount all receive Tom Cruise’s stamp of approval!<\/p>\n
