“A Bear in the Jura,” the third film directed by Franck Dubosc, is now playing in theaters. For his first foray into dark comedy, the director and actor has collaborated with Laure Calamy, Beno\u00eet Poelvoorde, and Jos\u00e9phine de Meaux.<\/p>\n

Set in the Jura region just days before Christmas, the film follows Michel and Cathy, a couple worn down by time and financial troubles, who hardly communicate anymore. Their silence is broken when Michel, swerving to avoid a bear, crashes into another car, killing its two passengers. Discovering two million in used bills in the other car’s trunk, they suddenly find a lot to talk about\u2014and more reasons to keep quiet.<\/p>\n

This film is currently the top-rated in Dubosc’s career, with an average audience rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars. Franck Dubosc agrees that Pixar’s “Finding Nemo,” where he voices the character Marlin, Nemo’s father, is his best film.<\/p>\n

During the promotion of the comedy “Merry Christmas” in December 2023, Dubosc, who voiced Marlin in the Pixar film, told us, “This is my most beautiful role.<\/i>” It’s a surprising revelation, considering it’s a voice performance and not a live-action role. Dubosc has played many roles throughout his career; thus, his attachment to Marlin is quite moving.<\/p>\n

Moreover, his voice work in this beloved Disney film is often praised as one of the best, matching the timeless masterpiece released 21 years ago. “Marlin, Nemo’s father, is my most beautiful role. It was my first dramatic role and it really is the most beautiful character I’ve played. Plus, I did it during a particularly tough period for me. After that, I turned down many roles because I did not want to tarnish that experience. With Disney, you’re playing at a very high level of voice acting. It’s quite enjoyable. Having done that, it was hard to find films with the same impact,<\/i>” Dubosc shared.<\/p>\n

“When I was shown the film and learned I would be voicing Marlin, I went WOW! That’s also the first word I say in the film, WOW! This animated film is amazing, one of Disney’s biggest hits,<\/i>” he concluded.<\/p>\n

“Patrick Chirac is a character very different from myself.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Released in November 2003, “Finding Nemo” grossed $941 million worldwide. In France, it attracted 9.3 million viewers. A sequel, “Finding Dory,” debuted in June 2016, gathering 3.4 million fans. Globally, the second film performed slightly better than the first, just surpassing the billion-dollar mark.<\/p>\n

Although Patrick Chirac, the iconic character from the “Camping” saga, is the most famous in the actor’s filmography, it’s not Dubosc’s preferred role to play. During the promotion of “A Bear in the Jura,” he admitted, “Patrick Chirac is a character very different from myself. It’s complicated to play. I don’t walk around like that in real life.<\/i>“<\/p>\n
