On a recent Friday, U.S. Vice President JD Vance, along with Second Lady Usha Vance and senior officials from the Trump administration, made a trip to Greenland. Their visit, however, was significantly scaled back from its initial scope due to the cool reception from the local population, amidst President Donald Trump’s continuous suggestions of taking the Arctic island from its NATO ally Denmark, using military force if needed.<\/p>\n
The group, including National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, landed at Pituffik Space Base\u2014a U.S. Space Force facility located about 930 miles north of Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, on the island\u2019s northwestern shore. Originally, the Second Lady had plans to partake in more culturally engaging activities, such as a dogsled race. Yet, earlier this week, Greenland\u2019s leftist government clarified that it had not issued any invitations for the visits, whether private or official.<\/p>\n
