Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, “Asteroid City” is Wes Anderson’s eleventh film and it assembles a dream cast: Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe, and Jeff Goldblum.<\/p>\n

This group finds themselves in Asteroid City, a tiny town in the middle of the desert in the Southwestern United States, circa 1955. The area is famed for its massive meteorite crater and a nearby astronomical observatory.<\/p>\n

This weekend, military personnel and astronomers host five gifted children, recognized for their scientific inventions, to present their creations. Not far away, beyond the hills, atomic mushroom clouds from nuclear tests are visible.<\/p>\n

…And One Stands Out!<\/h2>\n

Yet, this quirky film also includes a surprise appearance by another star: Margot Robbie! The actress wasn’t featured on the promotional poster and she appears towards the end of “Asteroid City” in a 2-minute cameo.<\/p>\n

She portrays the deceased wife of Augie Steenbeck (Josh Schwartzman), but also the actress who plays her in the play “Asteroid City”. In her brief yet memorable black-and-white scene, she reminds the actor playing Augie of a cut scene they rehearsed.<\/p>\n

This surprising, yet amusing and moving sequence, allows the viewers to see how Augie coped with his wife’s death. In just two minutes, Margot Robbie steals the spotlight from other stars with a subtle and emotionally precise performance, acclaimed by audiences.<\/p>\n
