Many actors now globally recognized began their careers in modest productions that rarely became memorable. However, sometimes an actor gets the opportunity to debut in a movie that ends up being a classic.<\/p>\n

Superman’s Future Nemesis in Groundhog Day<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

As we’ve discussed before, Billy Zane is an example, who played one of Biff Tannen\u2019s henchmen in Back to the Future long before becoming the vile fianc\u00e9 of Rose in Titanic. He isn’t the only one to start in a legendary film.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This was also the case for Michael Shannon, known for his role as General Zod in Man of Steel, as well as his performances in The Shape of Water, Knives Out, and the series Boardwalk Empire.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Shannon appeared in several scenes of Groundhog Day, even sharing lines with Bill Murray in the restaurant and during the dance scene. At about 18 years old, he played Fred, a young groom whom Phil Connors eventually helped to meet his future wife.<\/p>\n

Phil Connors’ Biggest Fan<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Full of praise for Phil, who had decided to use his eternal day to do good deeds, the young man was brimming with enthusiasm when he was also given tickets to a wrestling match.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Thank you Mr. Connors, you are a real pal!”<\/i>, he exclaimed at the end of the scene.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Years later, on the Rich Eisen Show<\/span>, Michael Shannon recounted this extraordinary first experience:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“It was like a dream,”<\/i> he said. “I was very young, it was really my first movie, and I was already a huge fan of Bill Murray and Harold Ramis, especially from Ghostbusters.<\/i> (…) We filmed in the summer, it wasn’t winter, and they covered the whole small town with fake snow.”<\/i><\/p>\n
