Celebrated chef Philippe Etchebest has shared his reasons for disliking the series “The Bear,” available on Disney+.<\/p>\n

“The Bear” is a show that has found widespread agreement among viewers. Premiering in 2022, it stars Jeremy Allen White as the talented chef Carmen Berzatto, who takes over his brother’s humble sandwich shop. With training from the world’s finest kitchens, Carmy creates a menu that elevates his modest establishment to global acclaim.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Deviating from the usual grandeur associated with haute cuisine, “The Bear” paints a picture of characters plagued by personal troubles: sous-chef Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), consumed by sometimes overwhelming ambition; pastry chef Marcus (Lionel Boyce), caring for his gravely ill mother; and “cousin” Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), deeply affected by his older brother Carmy’s suicide.<\/p>\n

A Renowned Chef Criticizes the Show<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

This psychological aspect, in particular, has greatly displeased Philippe Etchebest. Appearing on the show “Clique,” the Michelin-starred chef expressed his dissatisfaction with the series, criticizing its overly caricatured tone, which he believes damages the reputation of the culinary profession:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n You know, I don’t really like watching that kind of stuff, because it’s often a caricature of what happens in our establishments. It’s everything I dislike. That language, that way of speaking, it’s not how things are done, at least not in my kitchens. Never. I can assure you.\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

Clearly upset with the portrayal in the series, the famous chef did not hold back when it came to defending the image of his profession: “I think it sends a bad image of our profession, and frankly, it pisses me off.”<\/i> The series, rated 4.2 out of 5, whose fourth season will air on June 26 next year on Disney+, has thus experienced its own “Kitchen Nightmare”…<\/p>\n
