When it comes to finding the perfect spot for giving birth, cats are true experts. There must be a secret feline real estate agency out there! Not long ago, a pregnant stray queen selected a garage as her birthing suite, settling in for the big day. There, in the shadows between tools and tires, she delivered four beautiful kittens: three tortoiseshell girls and a ginger boy, all as cute as, well, kittens.<\/p>\n
About ten days passed before the owner of the garage noticed her unexpected feline tenants. By then, the mother cat had vanished, never to return\u2014a disappearing act Houdini himself would find impressive. Suddenly, those fluffy babies were left alone, with no one to care for them. Stepping up, the homeowner did her best, bottle-feeding the kittens, but the task was daunting. She needed backup.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s when Kelsey, a volunteer foster mom with IndyHumane, a shelter in Indianapolis, Indiana, answered the call. She welcomed the kittens without hesitation and rolled up her sleeves (metaphorically or literally\u2014details remain fuzzy). According to Kelsey, the kittens were \u201cplump, fluffy, and immediately latched onto the bottle.\u201d If there\u2019s ever a kitten Olympics, these little ones would medal in synchronized suckling.<\/p>\n

Life kept moving, which meant there were occasions when Kelsey had to be away. Enter Brett, another devoted foster parent. Brett welcomed the kittens in Kelsey\u2019s absence, and his cats embraced the newcomers with patience and kindness\u2014a regular feline finishing school! One in particular, Strauss, a ginger adult, took the kittens under his wing (well, paw). Maybelle, Midge, Maeve, and Mason followed him everywhere and snuggled close by his side when it was time to sleep. It seems ginger cats have a soft spot for the little ones.<\/p>\n
