In a surprising twist at the U.S. box office, “Terrifier 3” has overtaken “Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux,” with the actor behind Art having previously portrayed the very Joker character himself! Here\u2019s a look back at his beginnings as the malevolent clown…<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a real clown showdown! This week, Damien Leone’s “Terrifier 3” outperformed Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux” in the American box office rankings. Art has officially surpassed the Joker, claiming the title of Hollywood\u2019s top clown. Premiering at the Fantastic Fest on September 19, the gruesomely violent “Terrifier 3” was later released in U.S. theaters on October 11, and even earlier in our local theaters on October 9. <\/p>\n

In its opening weekend alone, the third installment of the slasher series became the most profitable title of the cult horror franchise. Moreover, it clinched the top spot at the box office, surpassing “Joker: Folie \u00e0 Deux” in its second weekend and “The Wild Robot” in its third weekend at the cinema. Current projections suggest that this weekend, the film might even earn double what “Joker 2” will bring in\u2026<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, we’ve learned that David Howard Thornton, who plays Art in the “Terrifier” series, is no stranger to playing a clown character…<\/p>\n

Just like Joaquin Phoenix, he previously portrayed DC’s Joker, but this time in a fan-made YouTube series called “Nightwing: Escalation,” which started airing in 2011. He transitioned from playing one infamous evil clown to a lesser-known but now notorious clown who has recently outshined the one considered the most iconic of all\u2026 <\/p>\n

As the actor explained to us during an interview with our site, traditional clowns, who are meant to bring joy and laughter to children, are definitely not pleased!<\/p>\n

“Terrifier 3” is currently showing in theaters <\/b>\u2013 <\/i><\/b>for audiences over 18 only!<\/b><\/p>\n
