Russell Crowe, known for his steadfast seriousness on film sets, admitted that only one actor has ever managed to disrupt his focus during a shoot. And it’s none other than Ryan Gosling.<\/p>\n

When you think of Russell Crowe, you might envision a deeply intense and disciplined actor, fully absorbed in his roles. However, even the most focused individuals can occasionally succumb to bouts of laughter, especially when working alongside someone like Ryan Gosling, renowned for his unique and quirky sense of humor.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In an interview with GQ, the star of “Gladiator” disclosed that during the filming of “The Nice Guys” (2016), a wild crime comedy directed by Shane Black, Ryan Gosling was the only co-star who managed to make him burst out laughing so hard that it broke his concentration.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I loved making that movie. Ryan Gosling… my God. Trying to work with that kid… There\u2019s a thing in acting called \u2018corpsing\u2019 \u2013 laughing inappropriately. That little bugger made me laugh every time.”<\/i><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Famous for maintaining his character to the extreme, Russell Crowe even mentioned that Ridley Scott would tease him during “Gladiator” for being unshakeable, even in the most intense scenes.<\/p>\n

“I’m known for never breaking character no matter what \u2013 Ridley [Scott] used to laugh about it. The Coliseum could be collapsing behind me [in Gladiator] and I\u2019d just keep doing my thing. But then you have something like The Nice Guys. People love that film.”<\/i><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Given Gosling\u2019s devastatingly effective sense of humor, even Crowe had to admit defeat. It appears this chemistry between the two actors greatly added to the charm of “The Nice Guys,” which has since become a cult favorite among many movie enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

A Film That Almost Didn\u2019t Happen<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

“The Nice Guys” was far from a sure thing. Director Shane Black told IndieWire that the project lingered in development limbo for years. The screenplay, co-written with Anthony Bagarozzi back in 2001, initially failed to attract any studio interest. Even an attempt to turn it into a TV series for CBS in 2006 fell through.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Everything finally came together in 2014 when Ryan Gosling read the script, loved it, and his agent immediately provided positive feedback. Russell Crowe joined three days later, excited by the prospect of working alongside Gosling. Within just a few days, the project was green-lit.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Despite receiving positive reviews, “The Nice Guys” faced an unexpected rival at the box office: “Angry Birds \u2013 The Movie.” The animated film\u2019s commercial success overshadowed the dark comedy featuring Crowe and Gosling.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ryan Gosling even joked once that “Angry Birds” \u201cdestroyed\u201d them, explaining why “The Nice Guys” never got a sequel, despite public interest and ongoing rumors. It remains a real shame for such a well-loved film and for an actor duo whose rapport truly resonated with audiences. Maybe one day, who knows.<\/p>\n
