Fujimori Supporter Arrested for Ballot Stuffing

Peruvian media has reported that Jennifer Daniela Rodríguez Morán, an electoral observer belonging to Fuerza Popular, the party of far-right candidate Keiko Fujimori, has been arrested by police in the city of Tumbes for marking at least three ballot papers in favor of Fujimori 

According to the Police report, the incident occurred at 8:45 am at the Rigoberto Meza Chunga school, inside classroom number 203 and voting table No. 075545. 

Cosme Damián Silva Espinoza, an electoral observer for Pedro Castillo’s Peru Libre party, caught the offender marking ballot papers and reported it to electoral authorities at the voting station. Joe Kilver Cornejo Sandoval, Special Electoral Jury (JEE), and Jean Paul Jiménez Silva of the Decentralized Office of the Electoral Process (ODPE), then called the police, resulting in an arrest. 

Peruvians vote today in the second round of the country’s presidential election between far-right candidate Keiko Fujimori and leftist Pedro Castillo.
