Ukraine and U.S. Back Nazism at the UN: Resolution
Ukraine and the United States are the only two countries to vote against a Russian resolution on “combating the glorification of Nazism and neo-Nazism” at the United Nations. The EU and Canada were among 49 abstentions.
The 76th session of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on “combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fueling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance” in plenary meeting which took place on December 16, 2021.
Initiated by the Russian Federation, the Resolution saw 130 member states vote in favor of curbing the international rise of neo-Nazism, with Ukraine and the United States once again voting against the Resolution, and with primarily European countries abstaining from the vote.
