Pierre Niney Blown Away by One of the Greatest French Films Ever!

During an appearance on the AlloCiné Grand Écran show for the release of “Gourou,” Pierre Niney discussed films that have made a significant impact on him, including a classic featuring three Hollywood stars.

Pierre Niney, currently starring in the thriller “Gourou” as a personal development coach, underwent intense preparation for his role. This provided an opportunity for the actor to stop by AlloCiné’s microphone to talk not only about his latest movie but also to discuss other topics.

As a guest on our Grand Écran show, Pierre Niney revealed three films that have particularly struck him as a viewer. Among them is a lesser-known gem carried by a stellar trio of Hollywood stars.

“Série noire, with Patrick Dewaere, really struck me,” he began, recalling how the film’s intensity and quality of acting had left a strong impression on him when he first saw it. “I thought, ‘Wow, you’re allowed to do that in front of a camera, it’s incredible.’ I couldn’t understand the processes he went through to deliver such a powerful and intense performance.”

“Every time I think, ‘Wow, what a masterclass!'”

“There’s one film that I can watch over and over again, and every time I think, ‘Wow, what a masterclass!’ It’s The Departed, Martin Scorsese’s remake of Infernal Affairs,” Niney continued. “It’s an undercover thriller featuring Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jack Nicholson. All three are at the top of their game in this film.”

The 36-year-old actor concluded by mentioning Steven Spielberg’s “Hook,” a classic adventure film led by Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. “That really is a childhood treasure, dealing with the necessity to grow up without really growing up. It’s a theme that I find quite moving.”

“We all manage, in one way or another, the mourning of our childhood,” Niney added. “And I think if you don’t properly mourn your childhood, you might end up leading a rather unhappy and disastrous life. So, it’s crucial to encourage people to maintain their sense of wonder.”
