Marvel Star Reveals True Pay for Joining Fantastic Four, Not $250K!

How much did the stars of “Fantastic Four” earn for their portrayal of these superpowered characters? One of the iconic faces from the 2025 release sheds light on this often secretive topic.

In 2025, twenty years after the original Fantastic Four movie, the cinema saw the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps. As the title suggests, this Marvel movie introduces heroes like Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing, as well as their adversaries such as Galactus, Silver Surfer, and Mole Man. Paul Walter Hauser, who portrayed this villain, disclosed his earnings for this pivotal role…

Mole Man Reveals His Six-Figure Salary

On May 22, in an episode of Vulture’s Good One podcast hosted by Jesse David Fox, the actor, who has won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in Black Bird, revealed that he earned between $200,000 and $300,000 for his role in Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, Paul Walter Hauser explained in this candid interview that he didn’t receive the full amount.

From his initial salary, deductions were made for taxes, a 10% agent’s commission, another 10% for his manager, 5% in legal fees, and 5% in management expenses. Moreover, the 39-year-old actor shared that he donates between 5% and 12% of his earnings to those in need. Consequently, his final take-home pay was significantly reduced: “What seemed like $250,000 actually amounted to about $136,000“, which is roughly 116,000 euros for just one movie role.

Salary Considered Insufficient

In the podcast, Paul Walter Hauser expressed that while the sum was substantial, it was not enough to provide long-term financial security as an actor. He pointed out the disparity in earnings between leading and supporting roles. He took the opportunity to discuss the much higher salaries of Hollywood stars, like Sydney Sweeney, who has profited handsomely from the success of The Maid. This openness was a welcome change.
