Dune 3 Shocker: Action Star Confirms Return After Missing Sequel!

A star from the original “Dune” confirms his return in the third installment of Denis Villeneuve’s saga – and we can’t wait to see his character again! Major spoiler alert!

Warning, spoilers ahead! This article reveals a major detail about “Dune 3”. If you haven’t read Frank Herbert’s books and want to avoid spoilers, you might want to skip this…

Fans of Frank Herbert’s novels will recognize a character, a hero from the first installment, who was presumed dead but is actually not… Yes, we’re talking about Duncan Idaho! And it’s official: Jason Momoa has confirmed that he will indeed reprise his role in Dune 3.

Momoa portrayed Duncan, the swordmaster of House Atreides, in Denis Villeneuve’s first Dune movie released in 2021. The actor did not appear in the sequel, Dune: Part Two, as his character appeared to die at the end of the first film.

Speaking to Craig Melvin on TODAY last March 31, Jason Momoa finally confirmed that he would return to Arrakis for Dune 3.

I’m making a comeback,” stated Momoa. “You heard it here first, right here with you, baby!

About the return of his character, the actor said: “I don’t know if I’m going to get in trouble, but it’s like in Game of Thrones, you know what I mean? If you haven’t read the books, it’s not my fault, right? Yes, there will be… I’m coming back.

According to an article published last February by Deadline, Dune 3 plans to start production this summer, “provided key elements are in place (availability of actors, etc.).” The release date of the movie has not yet been set.

An official title for the third installment has also not been revealed yet. However, the movie is expected to be an adaptation of Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert, which is the second book in his science fiction series – the two films by Denis Villeneuve have so far adapted the first novel. Published in 1969, Dune Messiah jumps more than a decade forward, picking up the story after Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) has ruled as emperor for 12 years.

While waiting to see him again in the beloved science fiction saga, Jason Momoa can be seen in cinemas in Minecraft: The Movie, in theaters since April 2. The Aquaman star is also currently filming scenes for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow scheduled for 2026, having been cast as Lobo in the DCU by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The first installment of Dune is available for streaming on Netflix or Max. As for Dune: Part Two, it is available on MyCanal.
