Is a Sequel Coming for Guillaume Canet’s Action Flick Ad Vitam on Netflix?

The French blockbuster of early this year doesn’t require a trip to the cinema since it’s a Netflix original. In the thriller “Ad Vitam,” Guillaume Canet plays a former GIGN member who embarks on a mission to track down his wife kidnapped by a group of dangerous captors.

For the role, the 51-year-old actor underwent rigorous training with former GIGN members. This preparation enabled him to perform almost all of his stunts, overcoming his fear of heights during the aerial sequences—a significant achievement for him.

Besides being the lead actor, Guillaume Canet also co-wrote the screenplay. He has already expressed readiness to work on a sequel, indicating that this was his intention from the beginning of the project, as confirmed in the film’s press release:

“It’s a possibility! From the start, there was definitely an idea that we might see them again,” he stated. “Now, it all depends on how the audience receives Ad Vitam, but I would really like to go back, as long as I am fit enough to handle the action scenes… before arthritis sets in.”

Ad Vitam ends on a high note. After being imprisoned for alleged treason, Franck Lazareff is finally freed following the discovery of new evidence. Now, he can enjoy his new life as a family man. All’s well that ends well, at least until a new band of villains appears…

Before a sequel can be hoped for, the film has already met the first criterion by becoming the most-watched movie on Netflix in France upon its release. However, it will take a few days to see if this enthusiasm spreads to other countries where the platform is available.
