Tom Hanks Rarely Saw Robin Wright on Forrest Gump Set: The Surprising Reason Why

Appearing on the Today show to discuss the release of “Here,” her new movie with Tom Hanks, actress Robin Wright also shared her memories from the filming of “Forrest Gump.”

Thirty years after being part of one of the most iconic films in cinema history (considered by AlloCiné viewers as the best film ever made), Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are reunited in front of Robert Zemeckis’s camera for an all-new adventure: the fantasy drama “Here,” which is set to premiere on November 6. The film features several generations of characters in a single room.

“Every lunch break, Tom would go for a run.”

While appearing on the Today show to talk about this new film, American actress Robin Wright, who played the unforgettable Jenny, Forrest Gump’s great love, took the opportunity to discuss her memories of the shoot.

One particular anecdote about Tom Hanks perfectly honors the film’s most famous line: “Run, Forrest, run!”

“We were moving around to shoot the film, and every lunch break, Tom went out for a run. He ran wherever he could. So, we really didn’t get to spend much time together off-camera,” Wright shared, adding that they did, however, have wonderful moments in front of the camera and caught up during the filming of “Here.”

“I was really exhausted.”

In between takes of Forrest Gump, much like his character, Tom Hanks spent most of his time running… and running some more.

“I was really exhausted because we had to shoot for 27 days straight,” Hanks explained last year in an interview with The New Yorker.

“You remember how Forrest runs across the country? Well, there’s only one way to get those scenes done in that timeframe. You have to fly to the damn location, get into costume, run for an hour and a half, and then it’s back on the plane, off to, say, New Hampshire, and start all over again. So I was exhausted. I didn’t know what was happening.”
