The first thrilling scenes from “Colony,” the latest horror film directed by “Train to Busan” filmmaker, have just been released!
Did you enjoy “Train to Busan”? Then get excited! South Korean director Sang-ho Yeon is back with “Colony,” a new infection-themed film whose first scenes have just been unveiled.
Starring Gianna Jun, Kim Shin-Rok, Go Soo, and Gyo-hwan Koo, the film is set during a biotechnology conference. The event quickly spirals into chaos when a virus turns attendees into infected beings, forcing authorities to lock down the venue while survivors find themselves trapped inside.
The debut trailer for “Colony” inevitably reminds us of “Train to Busan” and its 2020 sequel “Peninsula,” with its rapidly mutating virus infecting people. The footage hints at a similar dramatic tension that made Yeon’s previous films successful.
Rated 4.1 out of 5 stars, “Train to Busan” is the highest-rated zombie movie on AlloCiné. Sang-ho Yeon’s new project is therefore eagerly awaited by fans of the genre!
A Premiere at Cannes
“Colony” is set to release on May 27 in theaters and will premiere at the Midnight Screening at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, following the footsteps of “Train to Busan” in 2016.
Sang-ho Yeon is no stranger to the festival: his animated film “The King of Pigs” was showcased at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2012, while “Peninsula” was distinguished with the “Les Fidèles” label during the virtual edition in 2020. This label recognized films in the Official Selection by filmmakers previously noticed by the festival, highlighting the ongoing recognition of Yeon’s work at Cannes.
The director will be releasing another film this year, as the thriller “The Ugly” is set to hit theaters on July 29.
