27 Years After Titanic, Actor Dons Marlon Brando Costume and the Resemblance is Uncanny!

Billy Zane has transformed into Marlon Brando for an upcoming biopic. The first official photo resembling The Godfather has been released and it’s strikingly similar!

Following Matt Dillon (see video interview above) in the film Maria, which revisited the shooting of Last Tango in Paris and was released this summer in France, another actor is set to portray Marlon Brando in a film inspired by the actor’s life! Billy Zane will don the costume of Brando during the time he was filming The Godfather and just before Last Tango in Paris.

The first official photo has been released, and yes, it is indeed Billy Zane dressed in the iconic Godfather costume!

Waltzing With Brando tells the true story of the encounter between an architect and Marlon Brando. From 1969 to 1974, the two men will interact on a tiny island in the Tahiti archipelago. Their goal? To build a small paradise secluded from the world. The film is directed by Bill Fishman.

Fishman has directed a number of music videos (Megadeth, Offspring, Backstreet Boys) and a few feature films, including the lesser-known Tapeheads starring John Cusack and Tim Robbins in the 80s.

A Stunning Resemblance!

At 58 years old, the actor we loved to hate as Cal in Titanic appears completely transformed! The resemblance to the famous interpreter of the Godfather is striking, as seen in these other photos from the film.

Waltzing With Brando is expected to release in 2025, after premiering at the Torino Film Festival. The Torino Film Festival, which will be held from November 22 to 30, will feature the film in a world premiere, with Billy Zane in attendance.

Billy Zane’s Comeback?

Will the actor follow the same path as Brendan Fraser, who won the Best Actor award in 2023 for The Whale after a long hiatus? A 90s star, he rose to fame with his role as the antagonist Caledon Hockley, wealthy fiancé to Rose (Kate Winslet) in James Cameron’s Titanic.

Since then, the actor has been relatively quiet, taking on more low-key projects.

It’s worth noting that Matt Dillon also portrayed Marlon Brando in Maria, a biopic about actress Maria Schneider, which premiered in cinemas last June in France and is now available on VOD.

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Marlon Brando’s death.
