26 Years Ago, Bruce Willis’ Gesture Forever Changed This Young Actor’s Life!

“The first day of shooting ‘The Sixth Sense’ took place at the end of a very hot summer, and we were filming outdoors, pretending it was a cool autumn day. Bruce wore a trench coat, I wore a thick jacket, and it was very hot and humid. Bruce tends to draw a large crowd when he works outside. Everyone was focused on their work: it was the first day and everyone wanted to do their best, even the crowd was quiet when needed and focused on what was happening. So focused that no one heard the ice cream truck’s bell ringing near the next block. No one, except Bruce.“

He continued: “Bruce walked to the end of the street, grabbed the nearest and most reliable assistant, and the assistant approached the closest Philadelphia police officer. In an instant, sirens blared in the distance, chasing a cheerful unsuspecting man, who ended up with the story of his life when he discovered he was going to distribute ice cream to everyone who came to see [Bruce]. And Bruce Willis paid for the whole neighborhood. The guy didn’t leave until everyone had their ice cream. Well, not quite everyone…“

The young man, then pausing and pretending to be moved, continued his story, eliciting laughter from the audience, including Bruce Willis laughing to tears—and even from the late Michael Clarke Duncan.

“I was working, I was doing a scene with Bruce and of course I had to keep working, and uh… I didn’t get any. People asked me how I managed all those crying scenes, well, I just kept thinking about that first day at work. Everyone had ice cream, everyone except me.“

Addressing his co-star directly, he concluded: “Bruce, thanks for saving the world one moment and sharing a tear with me the next. You were destined to become larger than life because of the size of your heart.“
