New Stills Released for “The Housekeeper” Movie Adaptation
Fresh images have just been released from the movie adaptation of Freida McFadden’s novel “The Housekeeper,” which is set to debut in theaters on December 24.
What if a stunning home and a seemingly perfect couple harbored a dark secret? That’s the premise of “The Housekeeper,” hitting theaters on December 25, adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel.
Directed by Paul Feig, the film has been described by the director in a recent featurette as “a Nancy Meyers film gone wrong.” It stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, Amanda Seyfried as her employer Nina, and Brandon Sklenar, known from his roles in “Never Again,” “1923,” and “Drop Game,” as Andrew. Michele Morrone (“365 Days”) plays Enzo, the attractive gardener with a mysterious past. The couple’s daughter is portrayed by young Indiana Elle.
“The Housekeeper” is the first book in a literary trilogy that follows Millie, a young woman who cleans for the Winchesters, a wealthy family in New York. In addition to her cleaning duties, she picks up their daughter from school and prepares meals before retiring to her attic room. For Millie, the job is an opportunity to start anew. However, beneath a veneer of respectability, her employer, Nina, becomes increasingly toxic.
The newly released trailer teases one of the novel’s iconic scenes where Nina accuses Millie of throwing away her speech for her daughter’s school party.
While the key scenes from the book are well integrated into the film, Paul Feig has noted that readers can expect some surprises to keep the experience fresh and avoid a sense of déjà vu.
“The Housekeeper” is set to spice up the holiday season with its release on December 24.
