Watch Now: Deleted Scene from ‘The Cleaning Lady’ with Sydney Sweeney & Michele Morrone Released!

People magazine recently revealed a deleted scene from the movie adaptation of “The Housemaid” featuring Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone. This final scene was cut after test screenings.

To promote the film’s VOD release in the United States, People magazine shared an excised scene from the movie based on Freida McFadden’s novel. The film, which has grossed $335 million globally, stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone. It follows Millie, a young woman who takes a housemaid’s job at the home of Nina and Andrew Winchester, a wealthy and enigmatic couple. What appears to be the perfect job quickly spirals into a dangerous game of seduction, secrets, and manipulation. Behind the closed doors of the Winchester mansion lies a world of deception and surprising revelations…

While the film differs in several aspects from the novel, one major difference is the near absence of Enzo, the gardener played by Michele Morrone. Despite his crucial role in the rest of the saga, Enzo mostly lurks in the garden and has minimal lines in the movie. Though the novel frequently mentions him, many such scenes did not make it into the film. However, some were indeed filmed, as evidenced by the deleted scene.

In the scene, Millie encounters Enzo, who confirms his awareness of the events transpiring within the Winchester household and his assistance to Nina. This sequence, enriching the relationship between the two characters, occurs toward the film’s end and sets the stage for the sequel, with Millie and Enzo at the heart of the second and third novels by Freida McFadden.

A Scene Setting Up the Sequel

Director Paul Feig explained to People magazine last December the reason behind cutting this scene.

“When you edit a movie and conduct test screenings, you realize that at certain times, people want to be with one character and at other times, with others. It was the only scene we had to cut.”

He added: “But if there’s another [movie], it will probably come back.” It is now confirmed that the second novel, titled “Secrets of The Housemaid,” will be adapted into a film, with Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone returning.

In this sequel, Millie lands a new job with the Garricks, a wealthy couple who own a luxurious apartment overlooking New York City. However, the housemaid soon notices some troubling undercurrents. Fortunately, Enzo will be there to assist her.

While we await more details on this sequel, “The Housemaid” is still showing in theaters.
