Just when we thought the “Meet the Parents” series was over, a fourth installment is officially on its way, featuring a major star newly added to the cast.
In 2001, audiences were first introduced to the comedy “Meet the Parents,” focusing on the awkward and tense relationship between the humble nurse Greg Focker, played by Ben Stiller, and his daunting father-in-law, former CIA agent Jack Byrnes, portrayed by the legendary Robert De Niro. The film was a hit and spawned two sequels, “Meet the Fockers” (2005) and “Little Fockers” (2010).
Although it seemed like the series, which grossed $1.13 billion worldwide, had concluded, Universal has decided otherwise! Indeed, a fourth film is in the works, with the original cast set to return. Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner will all reprise their roles, and the original trilogy’s screenwriter, John Hamburg, will handle the direction as well as pen the script once more.
A Stellar New Addition
While the plot of this new chapter is still under wraps, Deadline reports that singer and actress Ariana Grande has joined the cast in a mysterious role. Following her success in the musical “Wicked,” which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress earlier this year, the comedically gifted star continues her Hollywood trajectory. She will reunite with Ben Stiller, who previously gave her a cameo in “Zoolander 2.”
The addition of the “Thank U, Next” singer is not the only good news reported by Deadline, as they also announce a U.S. release date of November 25, 2026, for “Meet the Parents 4,” exactly one year after the release of “Wicked: For Good,” the sequel to the musical phenomenon in which Ariana Grande will undoubtedly reprise her role as the witch Glinda.
