“Clint Eastwood’s Latest Interview is Totally Fake!” Discover the Truth Now

A recent interview with Clint Eastwood published by an Austrian media outlet has stirred up quite a commotion. The problem: it was completely fake, and the filmmaker wants everyone to know it.

Clint Eastwood is setting the record straight: his recent remarks about the lack of originality in Hollywood and his plans to direct a new film at the age of 95 are… entirely untrue.

On May 30, the day of the legendary filmmaker’s birthday, the Austrian daily Kurier published what it claimed was an exclusive interview with Eastwood—the interview is still online. Within hours, numerous global media outlets—including, regrettably, AlloCiné—had disseminated these supposed statements.

Clint Eastwood’s Denial

On Monday, June 2, Clint Eastwood reached out to the American media outlet Deadline to issue a denial:

Several reports about me have recently made headlines. I want to set the record straight. I confirm that I celebrated my 95th birthday. I also confirm that I have not given any interview to an Austrian newspaper called Kurier, or to any other journalist in recent weeks, and that this interview is completely fabricated.

The Austrian Daily “Investigates”

Unfortunately, any excitement about the development of a new film is completely unfounded. Kurier has posted a disclaimer at the beginning of the interview:

Clint Eastwood has commented on the interview in a specialized publication. The editorial team at KURIER is currently investigating the matter, which will take time due to the time difference with the United States. We will comment on the matter immediately afterward.

The American correspondent responsible for the publication has not yet responded.
