Wrongly accused of sexual assault, Manu struggles to clear his name in “Un si grand soleil.” Moïse Santamaria, who plays Manu, discusses this plot and the manipulation that victimizes Charlotte.
Upon meeting Sacha (Arthur Beaudoire), Charlotte (Clémence Boeuf) had no idea that her life would turn into a nightmare, dragging Manu (Moïse Santamaria) into a downward spiral.
Charming yet manipulative, Sacha quickly gained control over Charlotte. After coercing her into taking drugs and making a sex tape, he revealed an even darker side by raping her, marking the start of a horrific ordeal for the young woman.
Under Sacha’s influence, and at his behest, Charlotte accused Manu of assaulting her. These allegations naturally had severe repercussions on the police officer. Falsely accused of a crime he didn’t commit, Captain Léoni was charged and placed under investigation.
Convinced that the teenager was manipulated, Manu has since been investigating with Alex (Benjamin Bourgois) to uncover the truth.
“He doesn’t blame her, he just wants to understand why she’s doing this”
In an interview with Télé Star, Moïse Santamaria shared his thoughts on this complex storyline.
“When I first read the script between Manu and Charlotte, I wondered what I would have to defend,” the actor explained before continuing, “I portrayed him with inner turmoil because the accusation is so unjust. He doesn’t think Charlotte is crazy; he doesn’t hold it against her; he simply wants to understand why she’s doing this. That’s why, after the initial shock, his police instincts lead him to hypothesize that she’s probably being manipulated.”
The storyline has certainly sparked reactions among viewers. On this subject, the actor added, “I’ve received some astonishing letters. Some women have criticized me for defending a plot where the victim’s word is questioned as if it discredits the testimony of all those who file complaints. Such confusion is crazy! From the start, it’s clear that Charlotte is lying because she’s under influence. That’s the point. And while we’re discussing false testimony, it’s also a reality. It happens that a woman might lie and accuse a man of the worst to get revenge. It exists but shouldn’t be generalized. I think we often lack nuance in debates.”
It remains to be seen whether Manu will manage to reveal the truth. To find out, don’t miss the upcoming episodes of ‘Un si grand soleil.’
