Alan Ritchson Drops First Look at Metal Gear Solid + Predator on Netflix!

“War Machine” is a nickname that fits Alan Ritchson perfectly. It’s also the title of his upcoming action movie produced by Netflix, directed by Patrick Hughes (Expendables 3). In this feature film, the American actor steps into the boots of a U.S. Marine whose squad encounters an unexpected threat.

During a routine mission, the soldiers stumble upon a war machine. Once activated, it embarks on the mission it was programmed for: to eliminate anyone in its path. This sets off a deadly chase between the killer robot and the squad of Marines…

An Action Film That Echoes Iconic Video Games and Movies

Many online users have noted similarities between the robot in War Machine and those from the Metal Gear Solid series. The first game, for instance, features the secret agent Solid Snake who battles to neutralize Metal Gear Rex, a dinosaur-like robot with enough firepower to destroy major world powers.

The plot of the film also brings to mind Predator, one of the inspirations behind War Machine. It remains to be seen if the movie will live up to its predecessors, but the trailer promises a big-budget spectacle.

War Machine will debut exclusively on Netflix on March 6.
