Biden Pardons Son Hunter: Will Americans Understand His Decision?

President Biden Issues Pardon for Son Hunter Biden

On Sunday evening, President Joe Biden granted a full and unconditional pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, asserting that the prosecution was biased and politically motivated. He expressed concern that the targeting was due to Hunter’s familial ties and was part of a broader political strategy against him.

In a statement released by the White House, President Biden remarked, “The legal actions against Hunter were only initiated after several political adversaries in Congress used these charges as a tool to challenge and interfere with my election campaign.”

The statement from the White House further emphasized:

It is clear to any fair-minded individual examining the details of Hunter’s situation that he was targeted precisely because he is my son, and this is plainly unjust. Throughout the last five and a half years of his sobriety, Hunter has faced relentless criticism and disproportionate legal challenges. This was not just an attempt to undermine Hunter, but also to weaken me. It’s evident this wouldn’t be the end of their efforts. Enough is enough.

Throughout my career, I’ve adhered to one rule: always be truthful with the American public, as they are just and reasonable. Here is the truth: I trust our justice system; however, I’ve come to realize that overt political interference has tainted this process, resulting in a gross miscarriage of justice. Once I reached my decision over this weekend, delaying the announcement made little sense. I trust that the American people will understand the reasoning behind a father and a President making this difficult decision.

Earlier this year, Hunter Biden faced legal convictions, including three felony charges related to tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax code infractions. Additionally, earlier charges this year involved three felony allegations linked to discrepancies in a gun registration form.

Despite battling these charges in court, Hunter has acknowledged his past struggles with addiction and accepted responsibility for his actions in these legal matters.
