Two years following Pierre Perifel’s “The Bad Guys,” DreamWorks Animation unveils the sequel to their 2022 animated hit.
Released in theaters in April 2022, DreamWorks’ “The Bad Guys” featured a group of high-flying animal thieves on the brink of pulling off their most dazzling heist yet: becoming upstanding citizens.
With an average press rating of 3.6 and an audience score of 3.9 on AlloCiné, the film was one of the highest-rated animated movies of 2022. It also earned a whopping $250 million globally.
After its release on Netflix in the summer of 2023, “The Bad Guys” quickly gained a new lease of life on the streaming platform. A Christmas special aired last winter, and a Halloween episode premiered in early October of the same year.
Today, the studio has released the trailer for the direct sequel to the film. Still directed by French filmmaker Pierre Perifel and co-directed by JP Sans, “The Bad Guys 2” pulls the former thieves out of retirement and forces them into “one last job” by an all-female team.
Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, Mr. Piranha, and Miss Tarantula thus find themselves reverting to their Bad Guys personas, much to our and their delight. According to Mr. Wolf—voiced again by Pierre Niney as evidenced in the trailer released today—his youthful adventures were sorely missed. Our heroes will now find themselves teaming up with the Bad Girls, including the character Mistigri, for one “final heist.” It’s a true Mission: Impossible for kids!
In the French voice cast, Pierre Niney is joined by his comrades Igor Gotesman (Mr. Snake), Doully (Miss Tarantula), and Jean-Pascal Zadi (Mr. Shark). The film is set for release on July 30, 2025.
