If you enjoyed “Honeymoon with My Mother,” you might want to check out director Nicolas Cuche’s previous film, also available on Netflix. Like his latest work, it is a comedy and a remake, this time of the Mexican movie “Nosotros los Nobles.”

The film, titled “Spoiled Brats” in English, features a lively ensemble including Gérard Jugnot, Artus, Camille Lou, Louka Meliava, Tom Leeb, and François Morel. It revolves around the lazy, spoiled, party-loving children of businessman Francis Bartek who have done nothing with their lives except spend their father’s hard-earned money. Fed up with their antics, he tricks them into believing they are completely broke, forcing them to do the unthinkable—get jobs!

A Global Smash Hit on Netflix

The film “Spoiled Brats” achieved international success on Netflix when the platform acquired global distribution rights in 2021. Over its opening weekend, it garnered more than 10 million views and topped the charts as the leading non-English language film on the streaming service for weeks.

This success revitalized “Spoiled Brats,” which had previously seen 440,000 admissions in French theaters, and drew in a new international audience who shared their overwhelmingly positive feedback on social media. The film’s global reach surprised even Gérard Jugnot, who expressed his astonishment to BFMTV at the time, saying, “It’s quite amazing to see [the film succeed] in Honduras, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico. My friend Artus [who plays one of his sons in the film] received lots of messages on Instagram. Many people were congratulating him, and he didn’t understand why! Then we saw the numbers and understood.”

Jugnot added, “This international penetration is very new. I had experienced it with ‘The Chorus’… We knew the film was nice and touched people, but receiving emails from Ecuador and Brazil… That means it’s a good film.”

If you haven’t yet, you can catch “Spoiled Brats,” currently streaming on Netflix in France.
