Must-See Biopic of a Legendary French Author and Adventurer – Watch the Trailer Now!

The trailer for “Saint Ex,” a feature film about the French aviator and author best known for “The Little Prince,” was just released, featuring Louis Garrel in the leading role. The movie hits theaters on December 11.

Known for works like “The Little Prince“, “Night Flight“, and “Southern Mail“, the (brief) life of French novelist and pilot Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is finally being captured in a biopic whose trailer has just been unveiled.

Directed by Pablo Agüero and led by Louis Garrel (as Saint-Exupéry), with his “The Three Musketeers” co-star Vincent Cassel (playing pilot Henri Guillaumet) and Diane Krueger (as Noëlle Guillaumet), “Saint-Ex” is set in 1930. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is a pilot for Aéropostale in Argentina. When Henri Guillaumet, his best friend and Aéropostale’s finest pilot, vanishes in the Andes Mountains, Saint-Ex decides to search for him. This formidable quest pushes him to his limits, harnessing his ability to dream as his greatest asset…

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry on Film

The trailer, which echoes Jérôme Salle’s “The Odyssey” about Commander Cousteau, is filled with nods to the humanitarian adventurer’s works, especially his most famous book, “The Little Prince“. A scene with Louis Garrel gazing at the sky, scarf fluttering in the wind, recalls the novel’s cover, while a fox on the piano unmistakably references the hero’s friend from the book published in 1943.

It’s noteworthy that “Saint-Ex” focuses solely on a particular period of Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s life. Until now, no other feature film about the aviator’s life has been made. On television, Bernard Giraudeau portrayed the writer in the TV film “Saint-Exupéry: The Last Mission” in 1996, which focused on the author and aviator’s final days during World War II.

However, several films adapted from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novels have been produced: “Night Flight” as early as 1933 and again in 1959, “Southern Mail” in 1936, along with numerous renditions of The Little Prince, the most famous being Mark Osborne’s animated film released in 2015.

“Saint-Ex” will be released in our cinemas on December 11.
