Pixar and ‘Coco’ Director Launch New Space Adventure ‘Elio’ – Watch the Thrilling Trailer!

Following the phenomenal success of Inside Out 2, which quickly became the highest-grossing animated film of all time with $1.69 billion earned worldwide, Pixar Studios has released the first glimpse of their new original movie: Elio.

Directed by Adrian Molina, the writer and co-director of Coco, the feature film tells the story of Elio, a boy with a wild imagination who loves aliens.

The young boy is accidentally teleported to the Communiverse, an interplanetary paradise that houses intelligent life forms from the farthest galaxies.

Mistakenly identified as Earth’s ambassador by this intergalactic organization, Elio must navigate a series of unexpected challenges, form bonds with quirky creatures, and tackle a crisis of cosmic magnitude.

This extraordinary adventure not only leads him to defend his planet but also to discover his true destiny. It’s a grand intergalactic adventure about self-acceptance, embracing differences, and the power of imagination.

Original Voice Cast

For the voice cast, America Ferrera voices Olga, Elio’s mother, Yonas Kibreab voices the young hero, Jameela Jamil plays Ambassador Quest, and Brad Garrett takes on the role of Ambassador Grignon.

With their 28th feature film, the studio founded in 1986 returns to science fiction, a genre previously explored in WALL-E (2008) and more recently in Lightyear (2021).

Following Inside Out 2 and before the release of Toy Story 5 (expected in theaters on June 17, 2026), Elio stands out as an original film. It’s worth noting that the studio’s new strategy involves releasing three films every two years: two sequels or spin-offs from established franchises and one original film, with the goal of potentially turning these originals into new franchises if they meet with success.
