23 Years Later, Gérard Lanvin Recalls His Funniest Interview Ever!

During a 2002 broadcast on Swiss channel RTS, Gérard Lanvin and Benoît Poelvoorde shared a moment of uncontrollable laughter. Let’s revisit this legendary TV moment.

This is one of the most unforgettable laughing fits ever seen on television!

Twenty-three years ago, while appearing on the set of Swiss channel RTS to discuss their hilarious comedy “Le Boulet,” directed by Alain Berbérian and Frédéric Forestier, Gérard Lanvin and Benoît Poelvoorde delivered a genuinely unique moment.

“How Could You Forget That?”

After a particularly grueling press day, it took very little for the duo to succumb to a bout of endless, uncontrollable laughter.

Recently speaking with us, Gérard Lanvin reflected on this iconic moment, revealing that their laughter started because of… a box of sushi.

“How could you forget that?”, he shared.

“We had done a film called ‘Le Boulet’ and were promoting it all over Switzerland. We spent the entire day traveling by helicopter. Finally, we were told, ‘There’s just one more thing left, the news broadcast at 11 PM.’ We arrived on the set and there was a plate of sushi that had been sitting there since 9 AM under the studio lights. We didn’t know that.”

“I Looked at Benoît, and Things Just Spiraled”

Exhausted from their long day, the two actors made the mistake of sampling the sushi in front of them.

“We sat down. The news anchor was right across from us. We saw the sushi and asked, ‘Can we have one?’ She said yes. And each of us got a taste of death. I looked at Benoît, and things just spiraled from there. As Benoît is very expressive, I started laughing, and it just escalated. It ended up in complete hysterics, all three of us. And it was delightful.”
