33 Years Later, Jurassic Park Fans Still Use This Iconic Line Every Chance They Get!

With its masterful direction, breathtaking special effects, iconic soundtrack, and top-notch cast, it’s hard to pinpoint an area where Jurassic Park doesn’t excel. The dialogue in the film is equally delightful, of course. If you’re a major fan, you probably find yourself slipping quotes from Alan Grant or John Hammond into your own friendly chats.

A Host of Iconic Lines

For instance, instead of saying you got ripped off, you might say you “spared no expense”. Rather than simply stating that a certain movie isn’t to your taste, you proclaim it’s “one big pile of s***”. Or, when showing off your new apartment décor to friends, you might grandly announce: “Welcome to Jurassic Park!”

From the same scene, there’s another line that fans love to quote, even though it’s generally harder to fit into a normal conversation. Often parodied and even affectionately mocked, it’s delivered by Grant right after his awe-inspiring first sight of the Brachiosaurus and its nine-meter neck.

Tearfully moved by Hammond’s spectacular creation, he then sees, alongside Ellie Sattler, numerous other dinosaurs grazing across the park’s valleys.

“They’re moving in herds! They’re moving in herds!”, he chokes out, overwhelmed, realizing he’s witnessing a live scientific observation, something his entire career spent digging up fossils had never afforded him.

This little phrase (to be repeated twice, it’s very important!), instantly recognizable to any self-respecting fan of Jurassic Park, turns out to be quite amusing to try and place, especially if you find yourself, among aficionados, facing something even remotely impressive. A pack of wolves against a snowy backdrop, a lineup of sleek cars cruising down a sunny road, or even a lively group of friends approaching in the distance.

Any opportunity is good for dropping that famous Alan Grant quote.
