The Boys: This Original Character Will Undergo a Huge Transformation in Season 5!

Season 5 of “The Boys” brings a significant change to a character who has been part of the show since its inception. We spoke with the actor about the stakes of the final season.

Warning, the following details the plot of the first two episodes of the final season of The Boys, now available on Prime Video. If you haven’t seen them yet and prefer to remain unspoiled, you are strongly advised to stop reading this article now.

Kimiko speaks! The final season of The Boys heralds a major shift for the heroine portrayed by Karen Fukuhara. Known for her regenerative powers, she regains her ability to speak just before the ultimate showdown between Billy Butcher’s Boys and Homelander’s Seven.

This development inevitably affects how the American actress approaches her role. Until now, she communicated solely through sign language, mainly via her boyfriend Frenchie. Now, she is ready to step into a more central role within the hero group, a moment eagerly anticipated by fans of the character.

A New Kimiko in Season 5?

In the interview she gave us, Karen Fukuhara expressed her excitement about this change, which presents a new opportunity for both the character and the actress. “Her transition from the end of season 4 to the beginning of season 5 allowed her to work on herself and confront her traumas. And because she had this personal time to deal with all that, she is now able to speak,” she explained to us.

This significant change certainly posed a new challenge for the actress. She shared that she had extensive discussions with the series creator, Eric Kripke, and that filming season 5 felt like “playing a completely new character”. Will this updated version of Kimiko be as well-received as the previous one? That’s certainly the hope of the actress!
