From January 19 to 25, Alpe d’Huez celebrates comedy with the 29th edition of its festival. Spotlight on “The Doll,” coming to theaters April 22, 2026.
Throughout the week, AlloCiné is excited to showcase a selection of 2026 comedies featured at the Alpe d’Huez Film Festival. This year marks the 29th edition of the comedy film festival in Isère, blending debut features and discoveries with films by more established directors, featuring numerous comedy stars. The festival promises a wide variety of comedic styles. Today, we spotlight “The Doll,” which is in competition.
The premise: Rémi has never gotten over his last breakup. Since then, he’s been in a relationship with a doll, which is much simpler. Her name is Audrey. But his life takes a turn when Patricia, a new colleague, starts at his company.
The cast: Vincent Macaigne, Zoé Marchal, Cécile de France, Adèle Journeaux, and others…
Our thoughts: If you enjoyed the irreverent humor of Barbie, then meet “The Doll,” Sophie Beaulieu’s first feature film. It’s a wild comedy that pushes the boundaries of absurdity with some very zany scenes and a few moments of rare cinematic abandon. “The Doll” mixes elements of horror, romance, and parody, with an underlying commentary on patriarchy that truly stands out.
Additional info: Zoé Marchal plays the role of the real/fake “doll.” She is the daughter of Olivier Marchal and was notably seen in the series Skam. In 2023, Zoé portrayed Stéphanie, the eldest daughter of Bernard Tapie, in the series Tapie on Netflix. She also played the leading role in the comedy Nouveaux riches, where she underwent a transformation for her character.

Release date: In theaters on April 22, 2026.
A 29th Edition Highlighting Stars and Debuts
Founded in 1997, the Alpe d’Huez Festival takes place, as its name suggests, in the eponymous winter sports resort. Situated at an altitude of 1800 meters in the heart of Isère, the venue has welcomed thousands of festival-goers for nearly three decades, offering them a preview of upcoming major comedy films each year.
Launched on January 19, the 29th edition of the festival is in full swing: screenings, meet-and-greets, and signings are all part of this week dedicated to comedy stars and first-time endeavors. This year, five feature films are directorial debuts, including Ahmed Sylla’s first venture into directing with L’infiltrée.
The 29th edition of the Alpe d’Huez Comedy Film Festival in Isère runs until January 25, 2026.
