Millie Bobby Brown’s Canceled Netflix Project: The True Story Behind It!

Millie Bobby Brown exits Netflix’s “Perfect” as she was set to portray a celebrated American gymnast.

She won’t be seen as an Olympic champion! In September, it was revealed that Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown was in the final stages of negotiations to play Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug in Gia Coppola’s new film titled Perfect.

Netflix was discussing acquiring the film, scripted by Ronnie Sandahl, with Millie Bobby Brown set to produce alongside Nik Bower and Thomas Benski. Filming was scheduled to start this summer.

Who is Kerri Strug?

Kerri Strug was a member of the 1996 U.S. gymnastics team, dubbed “The Magnificent Seven” (a nod to the movie The Magnificent Seven), and played a crucial role in the team’s victory by winning the gold medal despite performing a vault on a seriously injured ankle.

She successfully landed before her ankle gave out, which required her coach to carry her off the mat.

Following a series of setbacks, Gia Coppola left the project, and Cate Shortland took over as director. Now, Variety reports that the film will not proceed. The American media outlet states that Millie Bobby Brown left the project due to creative differences with the producers. As a result, the project is no longer moving forward at the streaming service.

This is not a loss for the actress, who has several projects in development at Netflix and will be promoting a third Enola Holmes film this summer. She has just finished filming the romantic comedy Just Picture It for the broadcaster.
