Anne Hathaway Spills Details on Long-Awaited Sequel to Her Breakout Movie!

Anne Hathaway is having a bustling 2026, appearing in five movies and currently playing Penelope in “The Odyssey.” The actress is also experiencing personal joy as she expects her third child. This has slightly altered her upcoming projects, including the third “The Princess Diaries” movie, which initially brought her fame in 2001.

While promoting Christopher Nolan’s epic, the American star offered some insights into this eagerly awaited project in an interview with SiriusXM radio:

“I’m busy with baby number three, and that has taken priority over exactly when I can shoot The Princess Diaries 3. However, I can say that we’ve finally found the right story. I believe we’re heading in the right direction.”

She continued: “The script we were working on… we’ve had to start over with this new direction. It’s probably not the news everyone hoped for, but we are all convinced that this time, it will be the right one.“

A New Director at the Helm

In October 2024, Anne Hathaway officially confirmed the development of the film under the direction of Adele Lim, known for her work on the screenplays of “Crazy Rich Asians” and the Disney animated film “Raya and the Last Dragon.”

The plot of this third film remains undisclosed, and while Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis, there is no information yet on whether Julie Andrews will return.

Following “The Odyssey,” Anne Hathaway will be seen in David Robert Mitchell’s upcoming sci-fi movie “The End of Oak Street,” premiering on August 12 in France.
