American actress Hayden Panettiere, famed for her roles in the TV series Heroes and Nashville, died on Sunday, August 16. She was 36 years old. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” stated Skip Panettiere, the actress’s father, in a press release. “She was a vibrant person and a force of nature who brought immense love and joy to everyone who knew her – and to millions of viewers who saw her on screen.”

Hayden Panettiere was a childhood star. At just eleven months old, her parents started taking her to auditions, and she appeared in numerous commercials. By the age of 9, she began her film career, appearing in The Object of My Affection, Message in a Bottle, and Remember the Titans. From a young age, she trained her voice and auditioned for voice roles in animated films such as A Bug’s Life and Dinosaur.

A Key Role in “Heroes”

Television gave Hayden Panettiere a platform to become widely known. In 2001, she played the daughter of Calista Flockhart in Ally McBeal. She followed up with supporting roles in Law & Order and Malcolm in the Middle. However, it was her role in the 2006 series Heroes that brought her international fame. She portrayed Claire Bennet, the fearless cheerleader with incredible regenerative abilities.

This fame landed Hayden Panettiere in sixth place in FHM’s ranking of the world’s sexiest women. She leveraged her fame to endorse various brands and actively support causes she cared about, particularly dolphin conservation.

From “Nashville” to the “Scream” Saga

Without ever leaving the Heroes series – she was the actress who appeared in the most episodes – Hayden Panettiere took on numerous film projects with varying success, including I Love You, Beth Cooper and Shanghai Kiss. Her new-found celebrity also allowed her to fulfill a childhood dream: recording an album. The pop/rock album “Fallen Love” was released in February 2008 and was a success.

Hayden Panettiere also continued to lend her voice to animated films and video games. In 2010, she voiced Little Red Riding Hood in Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil, replacing Anne Hathaway. However, it was her role as one of the “screamers” in Scream 4 in 2011 that showcased another aspect of her vocal talent.

Hayden Panettiere was later cast as one of the lead characters in Nashville. She played Juliette Barnes, a young country music star from 2012 to 2018 and recorded several songs for the show. During this period, she faced personal challenges, including depression, but still managed to appear in the drama Custody (2017) and more recently in Scream VI (2023), reprising her role as Kirby Reed.
