A big hit on Netflix, this series rated 3.8 out of 5 is set to return soon for its second season. This excellent news adds a special flavor to its comeback.
One of the standout successes of 2024 on Netflix has fully embraced nostalgia, tapping into the fond memories of subscribers for iconic figures from the 2000s. Millennials and fans of teen movies and shows from that era have flocked to this romantic series, which is touching, modern, and humorous, and was quickly renewed for a second season.
A Romantic Series with a Nostalgic Twist
In “Nobody Wants This,” Kristen Bell and Adam Brody create a uniquely endearing and realistic couple that has managed to stand out in the crowded TV landscape.
To recap, the former was the beloved Veronica Mars and the voice of Gossip Girl, while the latter was renowned for his role as Seth Cohen in “The O.C.,” as well as his roles in “Jennifer’s Body” and “Scream 4.”
Their involvement in this series, which scored a 3.8 out of 5 from the AlloCiné community, has undoubtedly been one of the keys to the success of this feel-good romantic comedy. These two 2000s stars have returned to the spotlight thanks to “Nobody Wants This.”
Another 2000s Icon Joins “Nobody Wants This”
With shooting soon underway, the second season of “Nobody Wants This” will welcome another iconic face from the 2000s, known for her role as Blair Waldorf in “Gossip Girl,” as well as her roles in “Monte Carlo,” “The Roommate,” and “The Oranges.”
Leighton Meester, who is also Adam Brody’s wife, has been cast in a minor role in the second season of the Netflix series. According to Deadline, the actress will portray Abby, “the arch-nemesis from high school” of Joanne (Kristen Bell), whom she now encounters as an adult.
Fans of “Gossip Girl” will undoubtedly be thrilled by this reunion between Leighton Meester and Kristen Bell, who played Blair Waldorf and the voice of Gossip Girl, respectively, in the hit teen series.
However, the two actresses have worked together previously, as Leighton Meester appeared in an episode of the first season of “Veronica Mars.” Her casting in “Nobody Wants This” is a clever and amusing choice that brings a renewed sense of nostalgia to the series, much to the delight of fans.
After taking a break to focus on her family, Leighton Meester is making a strong comeback. She has appeared in “How I Met Your Father” and will soon be seen in the second season of “The Buccaneers,” as well as in the upcoming series “Good Cop/Bad Cop,” which has yet to premiere in France.
The first season of “Nobody Wants This” is available on Netflix.
