Over four decades later, “Spinal Tap” is set to get a sequel! Here’s the first teaser of the movie that’s hitting theaters this summer…
Spinal Tap is making a comeback! The iconic 80s film and mockumentary, directed by Rob Reiner, featured the boldest heavy metal band from England—David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer), and Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest). Now, 41 years after its original release, the first glimpses of its sequel have been unveiled!
Bleecker Street has released a brief teaser focused on the logo of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, the sequel set to premiere this summer. As noted by Dark Horizons, the original film, critically acclaimed in 1984, is among the select few preserved by the National Film Registry.

What’s It About?
In Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, Rob Reiner returns as documentary filmmaker Martin “Marty” Di Bergi for a new adventure. In this sequel, the band’s manager, Ian Faith (Tony Hendra), has passed away, and his widow inherits a contract that stipulates Spinal Tap owed one more concert; she threatens legal action if they do not perform. As a result, the band, which hasn’t spent much time together recently, must reunite and deal with each other to fulfill this contractual concert obligation.
Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, and many others will make brief appearances in the new film. The release will be accompanied by a restored edition of the original movie to celebrate its 41st anniversary.
In the meantime, to get back into the musical vibe and revisit Spinal Tap, the original, you’ll need to turn to its Blu-ray and DVD editions.
