This place, Encanto, has endowed each child in the family with a magical ability ranging from superhuman strength to healing powers. Mirabel, however, received no special gift. But when the magic of Encanto is threatened, this ordinary child from an extraordinary family might just become their only hope…

Encanto features a collaboration between directors Byron Howard, Jared Bush, and Charise Castro Smith with actor/singer/composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, known for writing the songs for Moana and the upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King (in theaters December 18).

“We thought it would be great to team up with him and start building a team around this project,” said Byron Howard. “And since we could all relate to these large, multigenerational families, we thought of a Disney musical that would speak to the complexities of family.”
