Following the success of Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus,” a sequel is now in the works, featuring the return of two key actors.
After reimagining “Evil Dead,” director Fede Alvarez took on the daunting task of reviving the Alien franchise with “Romulus,” a film set between Ridley Scott’s original and James Cameron’s sequel. The film received positive reviews and public reception, proving to be a box office hit.
This success has paved the way for a sequel, confirmed by Twentieth Century Studios’ head Steve Asbell in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
When asked about the future of Alien, Asbell revealed, “We are currently working on a sequel idea. We haven’t finalized our deal with Fede [Alvarez] yet, but we will, and he has a concept we are developing.“
Two Survivors to Return?
Asbell also hinted at the return of the two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, for the new storyline. “We know there will be aliens. We know there will be stunning sets. But I fell in love with both of them and I want to see what their story is.“
With a budget of $80 million, “Alien: Romulus” grossed over $350 million worldwide. In France, it even surpassed one million viewers.
While awaiting this sequel, an “Alien” series developed by the creator of “Fargo,” titled “Alien: Earth,” is set to premiere in 2025 on the American streaming service Hulu, and likely on Disney+ in France.
