First Look: 45-Year-Old Film Saga’s Newest Entry Promises to Be the Scariest Yet!

The first glimpses of “Evil Dead Burn,” the latest entry in Sam Raimi’s franchise directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, have been unveiled at CinemaCon. Here are the initial details!

Following the success of “Vermines,” his debut feature which was nominated for a César, young French director Sébastien Vaniček has been tapped by Sam Raimi to helm a new installment of the horror franchise Evil Dead. The trailer for Evil Dead Burn was released at CinemaCon and reportedly made a striking impact, according to Variety, which described the footage.

The trailer shows a scene where a mother is emptying a dishwasher full of sharp cutlery. She is interrupted by a knock at the door. Upon opening it, she finds a zombie with severed fingers, sporting a car headrest embedded in his skull. The zombie pulls it out and throws it on the ground before wreaking havoc on the family.

A flashback reveals a horrific car accident where a car door slams on a little girl’s fingers, severing them. Back in the house, the zombie pushes a boy onto the open dishwasher, and he is impaled on the utensils. The undead then leaps onto his chest, driving the cutlery deeper…

The Most Savage Film in the Series?

Still being edited in France, the film is said to be even bloodier than its predecessors. At the presentation, Evil Dead Burn was described as “the wildest and most terrifying film of the series to date,” setting a new standard after the cheese grater scene from Evil Dead Rise.

The final trailer is expected to be shown in theaters very soon, preceding Lee Cronin’s The Awakening of the Mummy, the director of the previous installment in the series that Sam Raimi began in 1981.

The feature film is set to hit theaters on July 22nd! So get ready to encounter a new Necronomicon!
