New Spider-Man Movie Starts Filming: Check Out the First Photos!

“Based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man Noir”: a new live-action Spider-Man series is set to make waves. Check out its first images!

In 1930s New York, an aging, down-on-his-luck private detective struggles with his past as the city’s sole superhero”: this is the premise of Spider-Noir, the new live-action Marvel series created by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot for Prime Video.

Indeed, while Sony continues to explore Spider-Man’s adventures on the big screen, the studio is now transitioning to television with one of the character’s iterations: Spider-Noir. Taking on the lead role in the series is none other than Nicolas Cage, making his live-action debut as the titular hero.

Having previously lent his voice to the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), the legendary actor will now get to portray him “in the flesh”. Fans are eagerly anticipating seeing Cage embody this outmoded detective from Marvel’s comics.

Joining the cast is Brendan Gleeson, known from the Harry Potter series and currently seen in Joker: Madness for Two, who will play the series’ main villain. Lamorne Morris (New Girl, Fargo), a recent Emmy winner, will take on the role of Robbie Robertson, a journalist straight out of the comic books. The series will also feature Li Jun Li (Babylon), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, Fargo), Abraham Popoola (Andor), Amanda Schull (Suits), Lukas Haas (Inception, The Revenant), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter, Umbrella Academy), Michael Kostroff (The Wire), and young Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives).

As Spider-Noir has begun filming in Los Angeles, the release date for the series on our screens remains unknown. Meanwhile, the first live images from the set have been revealed, showcasing Nicolas Cage in the role of the mysterious superhero, who will not be Peter Parker in this adaptation. The setting also offers a first glimpse of the 1930s New York that will be central to the series.
