Bruno Salomone was more than just Igor from Hossegor in Brice de Nice or Denis Bouley in Fais pas ci, fais pas ça; the actor also skillfully portrayed very dark characters, like in a tense TV movie about sexual harassment.
Bruno Salomone, who passed away on March 15 at the age of 55, was primarily known for his comedic roles in films like Brice de Nice and the TV series Fais pas ci, fais pas ça. However, the actor also ventured into much darker dramatic roles.
A Dark and Disturbing Role
This was evident in 2022, in one of his last roles on television. Salomone played Quentin, a man guilty of sexual assault, in the TV movie Boomerang. The story centers on Roxane, portrayed by Tiphaine Daviot.
Roxane, a young print shop worker, tries to end her life after being sexually assaulted by her colleague Quentin (Bruno Salomone). Faced with her assailant’s chilling denial and the cowardly complicity of the management, who prefer to cover up the incident, an unexpected uprising breaks out within the factory.
Led by Louise (Corinne Masiero), a charismatic and naturally respected leader, the workers decide to break their silence. United as never before, they rally with fierce determination to expose the truth, break the silence, and seek justice. In this relentless fight, true colors are shown, alliances are formed and shattered, and the entire company is shaken. Because when those in power refuse to see, the invisible rise up.
Far removed from his comedic roles, Bruno Salomone made a 180-degree turn by portraying this sexual predator. Alongside the talented Tiphaine Daviot, he demonstrated his ability to play all kinds of characters, even the most despicable ones.
A Stellar Cast
In Boomerang, viewers also saw popular actress Corinne Masiero, widely recognized for her iconic role as Capitaine Marleau in the series of the same name, also aired on France 2. Here, she left behind her audacious police officer character to play Louise Falconetti, a forthright and determined employee.
Alongside them, Laurent Bateau (Delicious, Emma Bovary) played Renaud, the manager of the printing company where all the characters interact. Actresses Clara Pirali, Marie Berto (The Daval Mystery), and Marie Hattermann (The Place of Another) portrayed employees who, at different times, join the movement initiated by Louise within the company.
Moreover, when it aired on France 2 on October 5, 2022, Boomerang sparked a necessary debate about workplace sexual assaults, hosted by Julian Bugier. If these few lines have piqued your interest to (re)discover Boomerang, the TV movie is available on DVD.
