Here’s a sneak peek at one of the most anticipated comedies of 2026! “Just an Illusion” is the latest film from the creators of “The Intouchables,” Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache. Set to hit theaters on April 15th.
Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, the duo behind some of the biggest French film hits of recent years, including “The Intouchables,” have crafted eight feature films, drawing over 31.3 million viewers in France alone—nearly 20 million for “The Intouchables” itself. Their films, known for their compelling casts and engaging plots, often tackle contemporary societal issues.
Following their 2023 release, “A Tough Year,” Nakache and Toledano are set to unveil “Just an Illusion.” The film is scheduled for release in cinemas on April 15, 2026, and the first teaser has just been released.
A Stellar Cast
The cast features Camille Cottin (known from “Call My Agent!” and as the president of the 2026 César Awards ceremony), Louis Garrel (“The Innocent”), and Pierre Lottin (winner of the 2026 César Award for Best Supporting Actor for “The Stranger” and one of the stars of the hit “In Full Swing”). The story is set in 1985. Vincent, nearly 13, lives in the Paris suburbs in a middle-class family, caught between a distant older brother and constantly bickering parents. As he navigates the tricky waters between childhood and adulthood, the film explores his thoughts and doubts about identity, friendship, family, religion, desire, and love.
Toledano and Nakache also wrote the screenplay for this ninth feature film, produced by Quad Films (Nicolas Duval) and Ten Films (Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano). Since their first feature film in 2005, “Let’s Be Friends,” Nakache and Toledano have embraced various societal topics. Like “Those Happy Days,” their second feature, “Just an Illusion” is set in the past.
