French Comedy Legend Stars in 5 Films, 2 Series with Jonathan Cohen!

Do you know the actor who has appeared most frequently with Jonathan Cohen? Here’s a hint: he’s best known for his comedic roles.

Jonathan Cohen has become a beloved figure in both film and television, known for his hilarious performances in “La Flamme” and “Le Flambeau,” where he not only stars but also creatively leads. He can also shift gears to more serious roles as seen in “Ma mère, Dieu et Sylvie Vartan” and the currently showing “L’Âme idéale.” But do you know which actor has starred alongside him the most?

You All Know Him!

Of course, it’s Ramzy Bedia, a comedian who initially rose to fame as part of a duo with Eric Judor and later in the series “H.” Ramzy, who comfortably navigates between comedy and drama (seen in “D’argent et de sang”), first acted alongside Jonathan Cohen in the 2017 film “Coexister.” In this movie, he played Imam Moncef, sharing the screen with Priest Benoît (Guillaume de Tonquédec) and Rabbi Samuel (Cohen).

Three years later, the duo teamed up again in the comedies “Forte” (co-written and performed by Melha Bedia, Ramzy’s sister) and “Tout simplement noir” (co-written and co-directed by Jean-Pascal Zadi). In the same year, 2020, Ramzy played Tony Tonic, a fitness coach to Jonathan Cohen’s character in the series “La Flamme” and later in “Le Flambeau.”

In 2023, they are featured in “Astérix & Obélix: L’Empire du Milieu,” where Ramzy portrays the merchant Épidemaïs, uncle to Graindemaïs (Cohen), and they reunite once more in “Sentinelle,” with Ramzy playing Frédo, the music agent to Cohen’s character.

Future Projects Together?

Given their great chemistry, it’s highly likely we’ll see them together in future projects. Perhaps they might join forces again in new adventures of Marc, the pilot from “La Flamme” and “Le Flambeau,” possibly in a feature film. Stay tuned!

Jonathan Cohen is also “casually” preparing to direct a new “Astérix” film, while Ramzy has recently completed “Signaux,” the latest movie by Quentin Dupieux, reuniting with the director nearly 20 years after “Steak” (2007) and will once again share the screen with his old pal Eric Judor.
