President Biden’s Controversial Support for Israel
Over the past thirteen months, President Biden has consistently authorized substantial arms shipments to Israel, despite ongoing reports of mass killings and the severe deprivation of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. This unwavering support has led critics to label him “Genocide Joe.”
This moniker may appear extreme, yet it holds weight. Although it’s unlikely Biden will face any formal charges for his involvement in these grave human rights violations in Gaza, the term has persisted. Future historians may very well view him as a facilitator of genocide.
The Emergence of “Omnicide Joe”
Biden has also been dubbed “Omnicide Joe,” a term not found before this article. Unlike “Genocide Joe,” which is based on established events, “Omnicide Joe” is somewhat speculative. This nickname arises from concerns that Biden’s foreign policy decisions might contribute to nuclear devastation, a scenario where no historians would remain to critique his actions. The term “omnicide” refers to the total annihilation of all life or all human life.
Scientists have warned that a nuclear exchange would lead to a catastrophic “nuclear winter,” blocking sunlight and destroying agriculture globally, with only 1 or 2 percent of humanity likely to survive the aftermath.
Biden and the Global Nuclear Threat
While the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is rightly condemned, Biden’s response has exacerbated the situation by prioritizing Cold War-era strategies over peace negotiations or reducing the risk of nuclear conflict.
One might assume that preventing a nuclear war between the nuclear-armed superpowers of Russia and the United States would be a top priority for any U.S. president. However, this has not been the case under Biden’s administration since he took office.
During his first years in office, Biden’s actions have heightened fears of nuclear conflict. His predecessor, Donald Trump, withdrew the U.S. from crucial treaties like the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces and Open Skies agreements, and Biden has not reinstated them. Furthermore, Trump terminated the Iran nuclear deal, an agreement from the Obama era, which Biden has also failed to revive.
Rather than adhering to his 2020 campaign promise to enforce a U.S. policy of no-first-use of nuclear weapons, Biden instead endorsed the Nuclear Posture Review, which explicitly states the opposite. Last year, under the guise of “modernization,” the U.S. spent $51 billion on its nuclear arsenal, outspending all other nuclear-armed nations combined, with plans to continue this expansion for decades.
Lack of Diplomacy and Escalation of Conflict
Before and after Russia’s attack on Ukraine in late February 2022, Biden showed little interest in diplomatic efforts to prevent or stop the conflict. Jeffrey Sachs highlighted in the Financial Times that despite Biden’s claims of being open to diplomacy, there was no U.S. diplomacy addressing NATO expansion, a key concern for Russia.
Despite the dire consequences of the Ukraine conflict, Biden’s initial State of the Union address post-invasion omitted any mention of the increased risk of nuclear warfare. Over the following three months, the White House issued numerous statements on the Ukraine war without addressing the nuclear threat, considered by many experts to be the most severe since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
Increased Military Support and Rising Tensions
In the past 33 months, Biden’s administration has claimed it aimed to avoid provoking nuclear-armed Russia, yet it has repeatedly crossed its own set boundaries. Recently, Biden approved the use of longer-range missiles by Ukraine into Russia, significantly escalating the conflict and bringing NATO and Russia closer to direct confrontation.
Despite polls showing that a majority of Ukrainians favor negotiations to end the conflict, Biden and other pro-war figures have dismissed these calls as surrender, pushing instead for continued fighting. This stance is supported by both Democratic and Republican leaders, as well as pundits in the media.
The Growing Nuclear Threat
Recently, Putin lowered the threshold for nuclear response to conventional attacks, and Russia accused Ukraine of launching deep strikes within its territory with U.S.-supported weapons. This development suggests that if NATO countries are perceived as direct combatants by Russia, it could lead to further escalation.
For President Biden, the verdict of “Genocide Joe” has been determined. Yet, if the fears surrounding the nickname “Omnicide Joe” come to fruition, no one will remain to reflect on these dire predictions.
