Ninja Turtles Bombshell: This Detail 54 Minutes In Could Ruin Your Childhood!

Beware, if you’re a fan of the 1990 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie, this freeze-frame might just shatter your childhood memories! But if you’re feeling brave, this hidden gem will surely amaze and amuse (or embarrass) you.

If you grew up in the 1990s, chances are you were a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy! Following in the footsteps of the iconic animated series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, these three movies delighted action-seeking kids everywhere.

Before they were rendered by computer in the 2014 and 2016 films, our beloved mutant turtles were portrayed by real actors in costume! Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Donatello were brought to life by Josh Pais, David Forman, Michelan Sisti, and Leif Tilden, respectively.

While today, the turtles’ acrobatics in their costumes might seem a bit outdated, we children of that era were captivated by the fights and choreography of our reptilian friends.

Cowabunga!

Moreover, all the elements that made the saga so engaging were there – from the villainous Shredder to the mischievous Casey Jones, and of course, the turtles’ best friend, reporter April O’Neil. Naturally, Splinter, the giant rat and adoptive father of the Ninja Turtles, also graced the screen. A true product of the 90s, the trilogy left a lasting impact.

However, it was really only the first film that successfully stood the test of time, with the sequels being somewhat more forgettable and less well-crafted. Fortunately, it’s a detail from the first installment that we’re going to look at. You might have worn out the VHS or DVD of the movie without ever noticing this!

If you have the movie on a physical medium at home, pause it at 54 minutes and 36 seconds. In the scene in question, Donatello and April O’Neil are laughing heartily about Raphael’s recovery after being knocked out earlier in a fight with the fearsome Foot Clan.

A Kodak Moment!

In the shot, slightly from below, you can see the journalist and the purple-banded turtle bursting into laughter. Donatello even laughs with his mouth wide open. If you look closely inside, you can distinctly see the actor Leif Tilden inside the costume.

His teeth are particularly visible, giving the shot a disturbing aspect when you pause and focus on it. Otherwise, the turtle’s movement is so fast that you can’t make out the inside of his mouth at normal speed. This fun little detail, which would delight our friends Michel & Michel from Faux Raccord, is quite amusing.

We hope this hasn’t ruined your childhood and that you’ll continue to believe that these turtles are indeed mutants! Otherwise, you can always check out the latest animated movie featuring the teenage quadrupeds! Titled “Teenage Years,” it hit theaters in August 2023 and has already gathered over 600,000 fans in France.
