“I’ve been postponing a theater play that’s very close to my heart for three years because of my filming schedule. ‘Un si grand soleil’ is fantastic, but it demands a lot of time and availability. I’m committed, so when I commit to something, I stick with it. Unfortunately, life is about choices. I’ve been with ‘Un si grand soleil’ for a year and a half, and as I really wanted to do this play, a decision had to be made,” he explained to Allociné.

The actor added, “I also wanted to improve my skills. That means I really want to be a good actor and a well-rounded artist. I don’t think I’m a bad actor, but I still have a lot to learn. I want to train. I would love to learn stunt work, singing, dancing, and playing an instrument. I wish to be capable of doing it all.“

Tom’s Story Comes to an End in “Un si grand soleil”

To explain his departure, the scriptwriters of “Un si grand soleil” crafted an exit storyline worthy of his character.

While attempting to help Maéva (Marie Fèvre) gather all necessary information to make a decision about her pregnancy, Tom grew closer to Hélène (Sophie Le Tellier) without realizing that she actually worked for an anti-abortion group.

This nearly cost him his relationship with Maéva, but little did Tom know, this was just the beginning of his troubles.

As he investigated the group, Marc Mourre (César Méric) discovered that IVG Conseils Montpellier was involved in a child trafficking ring. Determined to help the police take down this network, Tom infiltrated their offices to gather evidence.

Unfortunately, Pascal Belvis, the head of the organization, was found dead the next morning.

Seen lurking near the crime scene on the night of the murder, Tom became the prime suspect. To avoid imprisonment, the young man fled the country with Virgile (Fred Bianconi) and Maéva on Friday, January 17. This move also marked the actor’s departure from “Un si grand soleil.”

Is Matéo Paitel’s Departure Final?

While a return to “Un si grand soleil” is not currently on the table, Matéo Paitel hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility.

“As long as the character isn’t dead, a return is possible. I’m certainly not closing the door,” he recently told Allociné, adding, “I’m very grateful to those who have helped me learn my craft. These people are the ones who work on ‘Un si grand soleil.’ However, it won’t just depend on me; it will also depend on them.”
