Keanu Reeves Turns Villain in Blockbuster Saga: See the First Images!

Two years after his latest escapade, Sonic is set to return to the big screen on December 25 with a third film, featuring a brand-new electrifying villain voiced by Keanu Reeves in the English version.

This Christmas promises to be thrilling in French theaters, as “Sonic 3” makes its debut. Directed once again by Jeff Fowler, who helmed the first two installments, the film features returning stars James Marsden and Jim Carrey on screen. Voicing the iconic characters in the original version will be Ben Schwartz as the blue hedgehog, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles.

A significant new addition, teased at the end of the previous film, is Shadow, the formidable antagonist of this tale, who will have the voice of Keanu Reeves in English. Reeves’ martial arts prowess, as seen in the Matrix and John Wick series, is evident in the spectacular trailer released on Tuesday, August 27, just under four months before the film hits theaters.

The footage heavily suggests that Shadow will serve as Sonic’s dark counterpart. While Sega’s mascot found a family after his tumultuous arrival in our world, his foe’s life has been filled with pain and loss. These hardships have made him more dangerous and relentless, so much so that our hero must team up with… Dr. Robotnik.

Although Jim Carrey was not initially announced in the cast when the film was confirmed, he is indeed participating. And in a surprising twist, the comedic star is playing a dual role: both Robotnik and his father.

This might not be the only surprise in store in the film, where fans of the video game franchise are already anticipating appearances from characters like Amy Rose or Metal Sonic, or at least hints of their presence in a potential fourth film. Such surprises would be fitting for the festive atmosphere on the day of the film’s release, which aims to outperform its predecessors, which grossed $319.7 million and $405.4 million worldwide, respectively.
